Working at Height

Combined Working at Height, Rescue at Height, Confined Space Entry and Rescue

Duration: 3 Days

The Work at Height and Rescue elements of this course are aimed at personnel who use work at height equipment in the execution of their duties, who have responsibility for at-height operations or who may oversee the rescue/recovery of a casualty.

The course will introduce the principles and equipment involved in work at height systems and, through a combination of classroom and practical work, the process of a safe and systematic approach to working at height operations. The course also identifies the requirements for emergency and rescue planning as part of the risk assessment process.

The confined space elements of the course are designed to ensure that all personnel who are liable to be exposed to working in a confined space/vessel have a thorough understanding of the potential hazards of confined spaces/vessel entry, and to enable delegates to undertake their jobs in such areas safely.

Harness User

Duration: 2 Hours

This two-hour course introduces the principles and equipment involved in work-at-height in harnesses. Additional training elements (e.g. working with ladders) can be included according to client requirements. The course is aimed at all personnel who work at height using harnesses.

Working at Height – Unit 3 Rescue at Height

Duration: 1 Day

This one-day course introduces the principles and equipment involved in rescue at height, the application and operation of various rescue systems and, through a combination of classroom and practical work, the process of a safe and systematic approach to rescue at height operations.

The course is aimed at personnel with responsibility for work at and rescue at height operations, as well as equipment users.

Working at Height – Unit 4 for Managers and Supervisors

Duration: 1 Day

This one-day course will provide delegates with an understanding of the roles, responsibilities and requirements for a safe and systematic approach to working-at-height operations.

A mixture of theory and practical work, the course is aimed at managers, safety representatives and supervisors with responsibility for work-at-height operations; it considers the legislative framework for managing work-at-height safely and the process of personnel training and equipment selection.

Working at Height Safety Awareness – Unit 1

Duration: Half Day

This is an introductory classroom based course providing information on:

  • Legislation
  • Hierarchy of Risk
  • Ladders
  • Personal Fall Protection Systems
  • Fall Arrest
  • Personal Fall Protection Equipment
  • Equipment Inspection
  • Organisation and Planning
  • Rescue and Emergency Planning

The course also includes a written test.

Working at Height Safety Awareness – Unit 2

Duration: 1 Day

This one-day course introduces the principles and equipment involved in work at height systems and, through a combination of classroom and practical work, the process of a safe and systematic approach to working at height operations.

The course is aimed at Safety Representatives, Supervisors with responsibility for work at height operations and Equipment Users.
